CHANDIGARH: Liberal Party MP from Canada George Chahal on Wednesday proposed academic collaboration with Rayat Bahra University (RBU) during his meeting with RBU chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra.
Chahal discussed the possibilities of faculty development programmes by inviting RBU faculty members to Canada under an exchange programme. On similar lines a student exchange programme could be worked out so that students from his state and the Rayat Bahra University could spend time in each other’s universities, he suggested.
The Liberal Party MP said that in its engagement with India, Canada will invest in and connect people, including by bolstering Canada’s visa-processing capacity in New Delhi and Chandigarh.
Chahal, who before entering federal politics, was a Councillor for Ward 5 on the Calgary City Council from 2017 to 2021 said that Canada would support academic, educational, cultural, youth and research exchange programmes’.
